Summer Camps / Sports Camps Summer Camp is open to all children 4 years old - 6th grade. Sports Camps are open to children entering 4th grade - 8th grade. What's it all about? The summer camp program is open to children 4 yrs old to children entering 6th grade. The camp allows each child to enjoy a balance of age appropriate activities. Students in 4 yr old preschool through children entering 1st grade will enjoy fun games, arts and crafts, science experiments and gross motor activities for each week's theme. Students entering 2nd grade through 6th grade will have several creative avenues to challenge each student throughout the day, also with weekly themes. These themes may include: The Hawaiian Islands, Down on the Farm, Seasonal Sensation, Finish Line Frenzy, All American Heroes, VBS-Son Treasure Island, Wacky Water Week, Masterpiece Theatre, Ancient Adventures and Step Into Storybooks. It may also be helpful to know that the summer camps can be combined with our regular extended care programs. The following is a short list of some of the activities your child will be a part of in the summer camps. Games/Sports Activities The students will participate in small and large group activities to encourage physical, mental and social growth. Team work will be stressed in all areas. Arts and Crafts Daily activities will include drawing, painting, collages, paper mache, pastels, shadow boxes, mobiles, and much more. The crafts made will usually follow the themes of the week and promote art appreciation. Performing Arts Each child will be encouraged to increase their confidence as they prepare simple skits and dramatic productions over the summer weeks. Science Experiments The children will be allowed to investigate science through several different medias. Each week's theme will allow the students to experience new and exciting hands-on explorations. Field Trips Field trips will be scheduled on a regular basis, usually pertaining to the themed unit of the week. (Additional charge) Sports Camps
